I hated the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. The film was surprisingly successful, earning over $200 million in the US alone. The 2007 film was an attempt to re-create the Chipmunks in live-action using CGI effects a la Babe (1995). The Chipmunks were spun out as the short-lived animated tv series The Alvin Show (1961-2) and then the successful Alvin and the Chipmunks (1983-90), which led to several animated film spinoffs.

This concept proved a surprisingly lucrative hit and the Chipmunks put out numerous records, which were usually covers of popular hits. Alvin and the Chipmunks originally started out as a recording phenomenon where the novelty of the act was a group of singers with the recording sped up so that the voices sounded like high-pitched helium squeaks. As the time of the deciding performance nears, Simon and Theodore face a split in the Chipmunks.Īlvin and the Chipmunks (2007) was a live-action film based on the characters created by Ross Bagdasarian back in 1959. However, the Chipmunks are not even out of the airport when they cause her too to be hospitalised. Alvin and the Chipmunks are at a concert in Paris when a stunt performed by Alvin hospitalises Dave.
